Keeping your Home and Mind Secure during Extreme Cold Temperatures

January 12th, 2018

As we prepare for another round of extreme cold temperatures, know that there are HVAC products out there to help prepare and protect your home from damages that can arise from freezing pipes. Worried about being away from home and something happening? We’ve got you covered! Let’s talk about a few products we offer.

iComfort® S30 by Lennox

A smart thermostat can make a huge impact on your home. The iComfort® S30 by Lennox preserves comfort and peace of mind by actively monitoring system operations. Should any problems arise (like your furnace stops heating), you will be notified via your smartphone, tablet or other web-enabled device via the iComfort App. Knowing something isn’t working at the onset of a problem is the first step to ensuring it doesn’t evolve into something even bigger. Nest Thermostat

The Nest thermostat offers additional options to you as a consumer. Two features of the Nest systems are Safety Temperature settings and “Furnace Heads-Up”. With the Safety Temperature settings, If the room temperature drops below the set Safety Temperature, your Nest Thermostat will automatically start heating. Similarly, if the temperature goes above the set Safety Temperature, your Nest Thermostat will automatically start cooling. In each case, you’ll get a push notification on your phone or tablet, as well as a message in the Nest app. Once temperatures return to normal levels another notification will let you know. With the Furnace Heads-Up settings, your Nest thermostat can let you know that it has detected a problem with your forced air heating system. If Nest detects a problem, you’ll see the alert on the thermostat screen, in the Nest app, and in your monthly Nest Home Report, so you can check your system or contact a service professional for assistance. Honeywell Lyric™ Wi-Fi Water Leak & Freeze Detector

So it happened. A pipe has burst or something has sprung a leak! Would you rather wait to find out hours later when you get home, or as it is happening? With the Honeywell Lryic, be notified of a water leak while it’s measured in drops as it detects water with sensors on the base of unit (or using the expanded coverage with included 4 ft. water sensing cable – the entire cable detects water). You aren’t limited to a 4 foot space though! You can add up and chain as many extra cable sensors together as you need, up to a total of 500 feet of space, with one leak detector. For more info, check out our previous blog post on the Lyric HERE.
